Vehicle of the Month - 1960 Lincoln Continental Mark V
July 2008
The Lincoln Continental was first produced by the Lincoln division of the Ford Motor Company. Continentals were produced from 1939 to 2002. This distinguished styled luxury car was known for its long front fenders and short trunk. In 1956 the Continental was considered the most expensive car in the world; at $10,000 it rivaled the Rolls-Royce. The Mark II, III, IV and V were considered the top-of-the-line Continentals with stunning trim designs, roof treatments and a reverse-angle power rear "breezeway" window that retracted down behind the back seat. The Continental Mark series sold through out the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s, with the Mark VIII ending in 1998.
